Ke Nako - Digital Innovation
We think it’s safe to say that it has been a bright, shining year for our country. We truly brought “gees” to the World Cup and the Virtuosa Team are extremely proud of our countries achievements. The abundance of vuvuzelas, car flags, the Waka Waka song, and the Jabulani soccer ball are just a few of the things that have made the 2010 South African World Cup so unique and memorable. Not forgetting the talents of Paul the ‘Psychic’ Octopus, who correctly predicted the results of numerous World Cup matches, even Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso has been quoted to say that “This Paul is a miracle”.

What major South African event would be complete without the presence of Nelson Mandela, who made a brief appearance at the final to show his support. It was a very special day for Madiba on Sunday the 18th of July when he celebrated his 92nd birthday and what better way to help him celebrate than by taking part in the Sunday Times Birthday Message to Madiba Campaign, an innovative idea brought to you by our Colleagues in the Industry, Ogilvy. It’s projects like this that inspire Creatives to continue to design and strive for greatness in the digital arena. On that note, let’s check out this month’s articles centered around design inspiration and social networking during the World Cup.

Enjoy! The Virtuosa Team "Ke Nako" means "It's Time"

Paul has become internationally famous for correctly predicting the winner of Germany's seven matches at the 2010 World Cup, as well as the final. Paul was presented with two boxes containing food in the form of a mussel, each box marked on the outside with the flag of a national football team in an upcoming match. The featured video shows how he chose the box with the flag of the winning team, in this case Spain for the 2010 World Cup final match.
