Loco-Motive and Means
A wonder of the 1936’s was the sleek train that was owned by Paul Grumpy, an engineering genius, and was given the name “The Grumpy Express”. The train ran on a normal route from Washington to Detroit and passengers who made use of this service, were only the rich and the famous.
On this particular trip, all the passengers appeared to be aggravated and furious, which was really part of their personalities. Grumpy was also a passenger on this particular trip and he berthed in the luxurious Presidential Coach.
However, after the train had made a stop at Boltimore, Maryland, some individual had decided to make a lasting change to this businessman’s profession. When delivering his breakfast in the morning, the porter found his lifeless body in his Presidential Coach.
He still clutched a crystal wine glass in his hand and in the pocket of his robe there still remained his solid gold cigarette case. From this evidence, it appears that Grumpy was surprised by the attack and seemed to have died without putting up a fight.
With world war imminent, how could anyone dare to destroy this engineering giant, particularly with the influence and insight Grumpy had? Where does his path lead that ultimately ended up at the murderer’s feet? The answers to the plot will only be found with valuable investigating and probing skills.
